As we begin a new school year, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to SAOPCS! My name is Janay O’Connor and I am the school counselor. I was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but have spent most of my life in Texas. I received a B.A degree from the University of Texas-Dallas in Political Science and an M.Ed degree in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. I have worked in the field of education for several years. I began my career as a remedial reading teacher in Dallas, Texas. I have also taught second grade while obtaining my Master’s degree to become a school counselor. I love being a school counselor and feel I have a true passion for helping children succeed in life. On a personal note, I have been married for 23 years and have two beautiful sons, Austin (20) and Spencer(17).
As the counselor, I have the pleasure of working with every student at St. Anthony’s, along with many of the parents. In the role of the school counselor, my job involves a variety of duties. Some of these include:
As the school counselor, I am an advocate for the children of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. I feel truly blessed to be able to help our children grow in their Catholic faith and teach them what it means to be a Disciple of Christ. If you have a question or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me, either by telephone at 832-482-4168, or via e-mail at email@example.com. I look forward to working with you and your children this year. Best wishes for a fantastic school year!
